New Galleries Added!

Photographer Daniel G. Walczyk is pleased to announce the addition of three new galleries to his page:

“Susquehanna Simpatico”

Thirty-five images of motion abstractions exploring and celebrating the Susquehanna River in and around Wrightsville, Pennsylvania. The series was born of long exposure experimentations at a spot under the US Route 30 bridge that spans the river between Wrightsville (York County) and Columbia (Lancaster County).

“The Eyes’ Mind”

Sixteen images exploring the water, bubbles and ice in the small “pond” water feature in the garden behind the studio. Capturing bubbles at various stages of their brief lives as they danced and exploded across the surface resulted in a broad range of surprises. And the ice brought its own mystery and spirit as the cold winds blew.

“Flora”

Forty-two images, mostly close-up, macro and detail studies of nature’s infinite variety . . . most often captured just outside the front or back door, wherever you may be.

Twenty-eight images have also been added to the “Elemental Reflections” gallery.

Hangin’ on in SL

Area Map

Attempting to do regular blog posts while developing terrain on 4 new SIMs and readying them for renting and public use is nigh on impossible. It seems like forever (and has been) since I’ve posted here or on My Metaverse. But finally, the need to post outweighs other ongoing projects and business and the time is right.

The bad news first . . . and it’s really not news any longer, just a major annoyance and a huge question mark as to whether or not our SL business vision and model will survive the bomb Linden Labs dropped on Estate owners who have Open Space SIM holdings. I won’t go into all of the details and arguments about the controversy and its effects on residents, businesses, not-for-profits and educational institutions—one need only go to the SL Forums for that.

The good news is that Walczyk & Young Studios / Vulcania Graphics & Fine Art - Vulcania Estates is going to ride out the storm for now. Fine Art sales have picked up a bit and we’ve opened 3 new exhibitions of our work on the Estate.

At the Light House on Anahola Beach I have installed 14 pieces in a series called “The Eyes’ Mind.” All of the images were created in the garden outside the back door to our Studio in Wrightsville, PA and feature the astounding and provocative power of water and the “spirit(s)” that both inhabit and emanate from it. From the landing point, go to the Light(house)!

At the Vulcania Fine Art Gallery, I have just finished installing an on-going series called “Susquehanna Simpatico.” The series is currently comprised of motion abstractions exploring and celebrating the Susquehanna River in and around Wrightsville, PA. After visiting the gallery, take some time to explore the rental properties available on Vulcania Fine Art The structures are part of the rental and any other landscaping or object prims currently on the parcel DO NOT count against the prim allotment — a “group” radio is also included so you can change the audio stream on your parcel to suit your tastes. We’re also more than happy to modify the structure to some extent to suit your needs!

On Kahiki, Sahoni Tigerpaw has opened his exhibition, “The Shaman Series” which will run through January 3, 2009. This fine art series is a “must see” and is primarily comprised of composites created from photographic images in nature. Be sure to visit Vulcania Fine Art Studio and the 4 parcels available for rent on Kahiki.

The Vulcania Graphics & Fine Art / Vulcania Estates offices are located in the Northeast corner of Kanaloa Marketplace. We invite any and all merchants and artists with an affinity for a tropical environment to check out the available shops for rent on the island. We are especially interested in creators and artists in SL with indigenous backgrounds or styles (including but definitely not limited to Native American, Polynesian and African). As with the rentals on Kahiki and Vulcania Fine Art, the shops and radios are provided with the rental and the prims currently on the parcels DO NOT count toward your prim allotment.

Please come visit us at Vulcania Estates! Enjoy our current exhibitions and by all means explore all four SIMs. There is free public hang gliding up on the mountain on Kahiki and free public wind surfing, kayaks available for demo/purchase and 7Seas Fishing available on Anahola Beach. Have your own toys? No worries. Rezzing is allowed on all public lands within the estate for 2 hours!

We look forward to seeing you at Vulcania Estates!
